D.M.A. Candidate, Vitaly Serebriakov

My wife Svetlana and I grew up in Russia. We are both passionate about performing and teaching classical piano music. Our story began in Nizhniy Novgorod, a city near Moscow where we attended the College of Music, studying piano, music history, and theory. Going abroad for concerts and contests was a big part of our education, and we first met in Lithuania at an international piano competition. Soon after we decided to take our lives to the next level and moved to the United States to continue our journey and seek new opportunities for professional growth and education. We were married in 2011 in New York City and moved to Phoenix in 2013. We love everything about this area: people, local businesses, museums, art galleries, weather, scenery, national and state parks, the list can go on and on! We joined Christ Church in 2015 and became faithful members and disciples of Christ. We are very happy to be a part of this community and were proud to baptize our daughter Stella at CPC when she was born in 2016.

Education and Experience:

I began my journey in music at age eight and later was accepted to the Balakirev College of Music. I was honored to receive prizes in numerous international piano competitions, including the prestigious Award for Talented Youth given by the Ministry of Science and Education of the Russian Federation. I have appeared as soloist with symphony orchestras in Europe and the United States. Currently, I am writing my dissertation, the final stage for completing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance at Arizona State University. At ASU I was a Faculty Associate for the Piano Department and now am a piano instructor for the School of Music Preparatory Program.
