Position Summary:

Christ Presbyterian Church is looking for a pastor who will become a part of a cohesive, supportive staff team to help the church fulfill our mission and vision. The new pastor will have primary leadership in the three interrelated areas of youth ministry, ministry to families, and church outreach. As a pastor on staff, there will also be general pastoral activities as a part of the calling. Development in these areas is essential to the continued growth and health of the church, and we look forward to finding someone who is both passionate and gifted in these ministries.


Key Responsibilities



Youth


  • Provide a balanced youth program that includes study, service, and play
  • Organize and oversee weekly youth activities, and major events such as conferences, camps and trips
  • Grow deep disciples by engaging youth in the integration of the Bible and real life
  • Grow the volunteer base, including equipping, mentoring, and support
  • Champion youth ministry within CPC
  • Help equip parents to understand and live out Christian and cultural principles

Family


  • Partner with the Children’s Ministry Director to nurture and care for our families
  • Strategize with church staff and Elders on how CPC can be more attractive and engaging to families
  • Initiate activities to bring families together
  • Initiate programs to equip families in marriage and parenting

Outreach


  • Support the communications efforts of CPC to expand outreach to the community and to inform the congregation of opportunities to participate and serve
  • Evaluate and improve systems, projects, tools, and vision for effective outreach
  • Work with Deacons, Greeters, Session Outreach, and First Impressions ministries
  • Work with the Session Missions ministry
  • Engage in and build community relationships

General duties


  • Reports to the lead pastor and the CPC Session of Elders
  • Perform occasional worship leadership, preaching, and administration of sacraments
  • Perform pastoral care and occasional weddings and funerals
  • Work with the lead pastor and Session of Elders to advance strategic planning
  • Participate in regular meetings with staff, Session, and lead pastor

  • Models a strong spiritual life in Christ
  • Practices healthy spiritual disciplines
  • Is an effective oral, written, and media communicator

Qualifications


  • Possesses a solid Christian background and theological education
  • A seminary degree or the equivalent in education and experience
  • Willingness to be bound by the Essential Tenets of the Christian faith as outlined by our denomination, ECO (Evangelical Covenant Order of Presbyterians)
  • A healthy, growing, personal relationship with Jesus, grounded in personal spiritual disciplines and expressed outwardly in a Christ-like lifestyle
